BE&K Building Group Promotes Parker and Powell to Vice President Positions
Greenville, South Carolina Ñ The BE&K Building Group has promoted Tim Parker and Bob Powell to senior-level positions within the company. Parker has been named Vice PresidentøBusiness Development, and Powell has been promoted to Vice PresidentøOperations. The announcement was made by Mac Carpenter, BE&K Building Group senior vice president in charge of Greenville operations.

As Vice PresidentøBusiness Development, Parker is responsible for sales, marketing and preconstruction services. Parker began his construction career in 1993 with the BE&K Building GroupÕs predecessor company, Suitt Construction in Greenville. During his nearly 14 years with the company, Parker has held increasingly responsible positions within the areas of scheduling/planning, estimating, project management, and sales. For the past nine years, he has served as director of business development for the Greenville operation, developing core client relationships with esteemed companies in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, automotive, food, electronics, rubber and plastics, metalworking and textiles. Parker is a 1991 graduate of Clemson University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

Some high-profile South Carolina projects Parker has been associated with include the recently completed, award-winning Vought Aircraft IndustriesÕ 787 Dreamliner Composite Fuselage Manufacturing Complex in North Charleston, a multifaceted project representing the largest single capital investment in South Carolina in the past 10 years; Benteler AutomotiveÕs manufacturing facility in Duncan; Famous Craft BoatÕs new manufacturing facility in Anderson; SYSCO FoodsÕ distribution facility (and its current expansion) in Columbia; Fuji Photo FilmÕs distribution center and office addition in Greenwood; BMWÕs Performance Center in Greer; and the award-winning Marriott Greenville renovation in Greenville. A significant percentage of the projects Parker has been involved with have been delivered using the design-build approach.

In his new role as Vice PresidentøOperations, Powell is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations related to project execution. Powell has more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry and has been part of teams constructing over $640 million of facilities. He was originally hired by Suitt Construction in 1979 and served in various roles over a 13-year period, including seven years in the capacity of vice president/division manager of the companyÕs Florida operation. Powell received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with Construction Option from North Carolina State University (1970). Since rejoining the company in 2005, Powell has served as the project executive overseeing multiple (and concurrent) projects for the Greenville County SchoolsÕ major expansion program.
