Awards
The Vought Aircraft Industries-Global Aeronautica Complex in North Charleston, South Carolina has received multiple distinguished recognition awards. This complex — where the Boeing 787 Dreamliner fuselage is produced and assembled — won the prestigious National Design-Build Award of Excellence from the Design-Build Institute of America in the (Industrial Process Sector Over $25 million); won the Eagle Award of Excellence from ABC of the Carolinas; was named Best Project of the Year by Southeast Construction magazine (Industrial Category); and took First Place in the Design-Build Build Awards sponsored by the Southeast Chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America (Private Sector Buildings Over $15 million). The Design-Build Institute of America gave “Best Project” national and regional awards to Bayer Corporation's polymer and synthetic fiber plant in Charleston, South Carolina; Norandal USA's aluminum rolling mill in Huntingdon, Tennessee; and Unisource Worldwide's distribution center in Norcross, Georgia. In addition, JDS Uniphase's fiberoptics plant in Melbourne, Florida, received the Grand Prize for Excellence in Design of Specialty Buildings from the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers; KTH Leesburg Products' automotive parts plant in Leesburg, Alabama, was recognized with the ABC Alabama Merit Award; and Duck Head Apparel Company's distribution center in Winder, Georgia, received the Golden Trowel Award presented by the World of Concrete Show.
