The BE&K Building Group provided preconstruction and construction services for the student housing and dining complex on Johnson & Wales University's North Carolina campus located in the heart of Gateway Village in Uptown Charlotte. The complex accommodates 750 students.
The project encompassed construction of two four-story buildings with a combined area of 192,000 sf. Common area breezeways with picturesque views of the Charlotte skyline connect the two buildings on each floor, providing shared amenities such as student lounges and dining areas, laundry facilities and computer study areas.
Building in such a vibrant area bustling with residential, retail and athletic facilities requires efficient scheduling and site planning for deliveries and construction activities. Our firm proactively partnered with the owner — and the local community — to take into account the schedules of the nearby residential inhabitants, as well as daytime cultural and athletic events.
