Raleigh's Dave Rouse Pedals for a Purpose in Bike MS Two-Day Event

September 15, 2008 - On September 13-14, Dave Rouse, group safety manager for the BE&K Building Group's North Carolina operations, joined nearly 2,000 cyclists for the 20th Annual Bike MS in New Bern, North Carolina. The fund-raising effort involved two days of hard, fast cycling, covering approximately 200 miles in heat exceeding 90 degrees. Rouse's team, Team Nortel, was comprised of cyclists from all experience levels. MS events around the country are designed to raise funds for research and treatment to help end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis, a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that strikes people in the prime of life. Four people close to Rouse have MS, and each year he rides for them, collecting pledges in their names.

Rouse's efforts on behalf of the BE&K Building Group, combined with the contributions of fellow employees and many of our subcontractors, have produced tremendous results. In 2008, the BE&K Building Group rose to become a Champion Sponsor of the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the National MS Society, raising over $9,000 to date! Dave's 2007-2008 season fundraising efforts in the BE&K Building Group's name began with his co-directorship of three annual fundraising events in the Raleigh area: the Ridgewood Turkey Trot 8K Run (Thanksgiving Day 2007), MS Run for Research 8K Race (May 2008), Cup 'n Cone Bike Tour (July 2008), and culminated with the Bike MS held in mid- September 2008. Dave extends his gratitude to all who have supported the mission to find a cure for MS.
