United Way of Greenville County's School Tools Project Supported by Generous BE&K Building Group Employees
August 25, 2008 - For the fifth consecutive summer, the BE&K Building Group's Greenville office participated in the United Way of Greenville County's School Tools program originated to help needy children get ready to go back to school.
Ten paper sacks were set out in the office's breakroom, each labeled with the first name, gender and grade of an individual child. Employees were encouraged to "adopt" one of these special children and fill the designated paper bag with school supplies from a detailed shopping list provided by the United Way of Greenville County. For those employees who preferred to make a monetary donation, Janice Arledge and Carol Neely offered to shop on their behalf.
The Greenville office's 2008 School Tools project was a great success and every bag was filled in plenty of time for distribution to the young recipients.
Leigh Schumacher, community-wide campaign manager for the United Way, sent a letter of thanks for the BE&K Building Group's generous donations. She stated "This year, we collected over 4,000 bags of school supplies for the special children in our community. Thank you for your role in making this the biggest year ever for the School Tools project."
