Fundraiser Luncheon Hosted by Raleigh Office Benefits Wake County’s Habitat for Humanity
May 12, 2008 - The BE&K Building Group’s Raleigh office hosted a fundraising event in May to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Wake County. Barbeque plate lunches were presold to area businesses, friends, subcontractors and local BE&K Building Group jobsite crews. Chicken and hush puppies were cooked on site and plated along with chopped pork, coleslaw and potato salad for people to enjoy under tents or for curbside pick-up. After selling 700 plates, together with cash donations, Raleigh employees raised a total of $5,800 for the local Habitat organization, entitling the BE&K Building Group to sponsor a new Habitat home to be constructed in 2009.
Raleigh’s “Giving Back” committee thanks all who made the event successful as well as Ted's Catering for providing the food at cost. Another “giving back” effort in June involved a group from the Raleigh office serving as "building crew for a day" at a Habitat home currently under construction in nearby Knightdale, North Carolina.
Giving Back committee members include Jonathan Mouton, Carl Tiemann, John Kelly, Maggie Weeks and Nancy Bard.
